Carrefour Denies Interest In UK's Safeway
PARIS - French retailer Carrefour SA today denied a British press report that it may be considering an acquisition of U.K. competitor Safeway, Dow Jones newswire reports.
"We formally deny that we have any intentions in this regard," a Carrefour official said.
The report speculated that Carrefour might be ready to think about acquisitions now that it has absorbed Promodes and has managed to reduce its debt.
