Calif. Grocers Assn. Elects New Board Members

LAS VEGAS -- The California Grocers Association (CGA) yesterday elected its 2005-2006 slate of officers and new board of directors at its annual meeting held here.

CGA members elected to the board's executive committee include the following: chair, Jay McCormack, Rio Ranch Markets, Riverside, Calif.; first vice chair, Bill Anderson, Raley's, West Sacramento, Calif.; second vice chair Richard Morgan Jr., Holiday Quality Foods, Cottonwood, Calif.; treasurer, Kevin Herglotz, Safeway, Inc., Pleasanton, Calif.; secretary, Bob Ling, Unified Western Grocers, Inc., Commerce, Calif.; and immediate past chair, Bob Stiles, Gelson's Markets, Encino, Calif.

Chairman appointments to the executive committee include Sue de Boer, Crossmark; Ann Hall, 7-Eleven, Inc.; and Bill Robinson, Pepsi Bottling Group.

Directors elected to a second three-year term include Ann Hall, 7-Eleven, Inc.; Mike Silveira, Save Mart Supermarkets; Vito Urgesi, C&S Wholesale Grocers; and Robert Phillips, Coca-Cola Enterprises.

Also elected as new directors for their first three-year term were Clouzell King, Northgate Gonzalez; Tracy Mauldin-Avery, Costco Wholesale; Bob Nugent, Scolari's Food and Drug Co.; Jyoti Solanki, Big Saver Foods; Naresh Solanki, Bestway Supermarkets; Vince Delgado, Procter & Gamble; Jack Neugebauer, Bimbo Bakeries USA; John Rogoff, Acosta Sales and Marketing; and Jerry Whitmore, Dreyer's Grand Ice Cream.

"CGA's board of directors represents an excellent cross-section of both grocery retailers and suppliers," said CGA president Peter Larkin. "This unique diversity allows us to understand issues both from large supermarket chains and small independent grocers."

CGA represents approximately 500 retail members operating over 6,000 food stores in California and Nevada, and approximately 200 grocery supplier companies. CGA is headquartered in Sacramento and has a satellite office in Long Beach.
