Buttering Up
One of the ways that Challenge, the largest butter brand in the West, is marking its 100th anniversary is with the launch of Tuscan Style Butter. Fresh creamery butter is infused with slow-roasted garlic, olive oil, and such Italian herbs, as rosemary, basil, oregano and thyme. Dublin, Calif.-based Challenge Dairy Products, a wholly owned subsidiary of California Dairies Inc., the second-largest dairy cooperative in the United States, created the spreadable product to capitalize on an emerging trend of butters enhanced with gourmet ingredients. The brand’s other anniversary-related activities include a sweepstakes to win a trip to Yellowstone National Park. Tuscan Style Butter comes in a 7-ounce container that retails for a suggested $2.35.
