  • The Pantry Acquires 39 C-stores in Mississippi, Louisiana

    SANFORD, N.C. -- The Pantry, Inc., the top independently operated convenience store chain in the southeastern United States, said yesterday that it will acquire 39 Interstate Food Stop convenience stores in Mississippi and Louisiana from Waring Oil Co., LLC. The stores generated total revenue of about $100 million last year. Terms of the transaction were not revealed.

    COPPELL, Texas -- Minyard Food Stores, Inc., based here, said yesterday that it would break ground on its newest Carnival Food Store, which is to be located on the Southwest corner of Westmorland and Illinois in the Oak Cliff section of Dallas. The groundbreaking ceremony will occur tomorrow at 10 a.m., with a grand opening planned for the summer of 2006. The Carnival concept caters specifically to the Hispanic shopper.
