Buehler’s Gives Back Over $300K to Local Groups

Buehler’s Fresh Foods and its associates provided over $300,000 in support of local communities within its market area. The funds were generated by direct donations to over 140 community organizations. The Wooster, Ohio-based Buehler’s corporate and employee donations to the United Way affiliates throughout the seven-county market area were raised by employee donations through various “dress down for charity” days and holiday fundraisers; and daily donations of bakery items to local area nonprofits.

In addition, Buehler’s customers raised $83,000 and donated 342,000 meals through the 2012 Harvest for Hunger campaign in support of the Akron Canton Regional Food Bank and Cleveland Food Bank. Meanwhile, customers at its Wooster and Orrville stores donated 1,300 bags of food during a food drive for People to People Ministries, a local food pantry.

Many organizations participated in Buehler’s-sponsored fundraisers as well. Buehler’s stores hosted Patio Sales for 60 different nonprofit organizations, helping the groups raise a total of nearly $60,000.Another 70 schools and organizations participated in the Labels for Learning fundraiser offered through the Our Family brand, raising a total of $3,500 for their respective programs, and dozens of organizations saved thousands of dollars by purchasing specially priced items from Buehler’s non-profit reduced price list. Further, every Buehler’s restaurant provided 900 complimentary breakfasts on Veteran’s Day for local armed services members.

“Buehler’s is proud to support the communities we serve,” said Cyndi O’Donnell, Buehler’s community relations manager. “Our new tagline, “Putting People First,” reflects Buehler’s long-held belief that people and relationships are the most important ingredients of our business. We all work hard every day to provide friendly, caring service, and our community outreach efforts are an integral part of what our company stands for.”
