Brown’s Preps Community for New Philly Store
Brown’s Super Stores, operator of 10 ShopRite supermarkets in the Philadelphia region, is meeting with local communities to present the new ShopRite of Fox Street opening this summer. Scheduled to take place at the Murrell Dobbins High School in Philadelphia on Jan. 31 at 6:30 p.m., the meeting is expected to draw nearly 1,000 people from the area.
Community leaders, elected officials, the store owners and management will all be available during the event to talk about the upcoming ShopRite location’s offerings and employment opportunities, and to answer any questions. The planned store, which is currently under construction, will also have an in-store health clinic, operated by RHD’s Family Practice, and the “ShopRite from Home” delivery service.
A partnership with local real estate development firm Metro Development Co., the 71,000-square-foot store will be located at the site of the former Tasty Baking Production Factory, where Tastykake baked goods were made, at what will be Baker’s Centre in the Allegheny West section of Philadelphia.
“Our new store facility will be innovative and exceptional,” noted Jeff Brown, president and CEO of Westville, N.J.-based Brown’s Super Stores, a family-owned and -operated supermarket chain. “We continue to be committed to operating spotlessly clean stores, having the freshest foods and friendly associates who are respectful to everyone.”
In 2009, Brown founded UpLift Solutions Inc., a nonprofit organization dedicated to eliminating U.S. food deserts by working with government agencies, nonprofits and industry to create sustainable environments for underserved communities.
