Brookshire Grocery Co. Names Longtime Exec CEO
TYLER, Texas -- Following an executive search, Brookshire Grocery Co.'s board of directors named Rick Rayford c.e.o. Rayford will begin to work on a transition of leadership over the next several months with current c.e.o. Marvin Massey, who plans to retire in 2008, the company said.
A 35-year employee, Rayford joined the company as a warehouseman and served in various capacities before being promoted to director of distribution in 1988. Since that time he has served as v.p. - distribution, s.v.p. - distribution, e.v.p. - distribution/manufacturing, and e.v.p. - corporate development, the chain said.
Brookshire Grocery Co. has 155 supermarkets operating in Texas, Louisiana, Arkansas, and Mississippi under four distinct banners.
