BJ's Wholesale Club Appoints New E.V.P. of Store Operations

NATICK, Mass. -- BJ's Wholesale Club, Inc. said yesterday that Thomas F. Gallagher has been promoted to e.v.p. of store operations. In his new role Gallagher will handle all BJ's Wholesale Club operations and report directly to BJ's chairman of the board and interim c.e.o. Herb Zarkin. Gallagher replaces Ed Giles, who has left the company.

An industry veteran with over 30 years of experience in retail operations, Gallagher began his career with BJ's in 1991 as a regional manager, rising through the ranks at both at BJ's and a sister company, House2Home. He most recently served as BJ's s.v.p. of operations.

"I have worked closely with Tom for more than 15 years, and he has repeatedly proven himself to be an effective leader and operator," said Zarkin in a statement, citing Gallagher's "excellent business sense, discipline, and management." Continued Zarkin, "In his new position, he will play a key role in delivering profitable growth for our company."

BJ's currently operates 172 BJ's Wholesale Clubs in 16 states.
