BJ's Wholesale Club Appoints New C.I.O.

NATICK, Mass.-- BJ's Wholesale Club, Inc., based here, said yesterday that John Polizzi had been named s.v.p., c.i.o., replacing Roland LaFerriere, who will retire next month after 31 years with the company.

Polizzi will assume responsibility for the retailer's Information Systems Division, which includes the areas of systems planning, development, support services, and security. He reports to Frank Forward, BJ's chief administrative officer.

Previously Polizzi served as an s.v.p. at Blockbuster, Inc., where he ran a global IT organization responsible for 8,000 stores in 26 countries. He has additionally held IT strategy positions at Burger King and Caldor Corp.

Said BJ's president and c.e.o. Mike Wedge in a statement, "[Polizzi] brings a high level of strategic insight to this position and understands the critical importance of IT in helping BJ's meet its business objectives."

BJ's operates 159 BJ's Wholesale clubs and two ProFoods Restaurant Supply clubs.
