Bi-Lo Promotes Ops Execs, Meat V.P.

MAULDIN, S.C. -- Bi-Lo here promoted executives in a number of key leadership positions last week. While Bi-Lo disclosed the appointments after the news that the regional chain was up for sale, the executive were promoted before, a spokeswoman told Progressive Grocer on Friday.

Bi-Lo said it has named Dwayne Goodwin regional v.p. for Bi-Lo's Foothills region, which includes districts in Chattanooga, Tenn.; Greenville, S.C.; Anderson, S.C.; and north Georgia. Goodwin began his career in the grocery business at Red Food Stores in Shelbyville, Tenn. at the age of 16. He joined Bi-Lo in 1995 as a part of the acquisition of Red Food Stores. The company also named Rusty Streetman regional v.p. of Bi-Lo's Eastern region, covering the midland and low country of South Carolina, and Augusta, Ga. Streetman stared with Bi-Lo in 1974, and has since held a number of management assignments, including district manager and corporate director of training and development. Since 2000 Streetman has been v.p. of field human resources.

Ken Peterson will take over Streetman's former role as v.p. of field human resources. Peterson started working with Bi-Lo in 1989 and has held positions in both store operations and human resources. Prior to his promotion, he was a district manager.

Bill Head was promoted to v.p. of meat and seafood marketing. Head's 25-year career in the supermarket industry began in 1981, and has included many positions in meat and seafood management. In 2003 he was promoted to director of meat and seafood for Bruno's, and in 2005 he moved into his most recent position as senior director of meat and seafood for Bi-Lo.
