Bi-Lo Manager Receives Outstanding Customer Service Award

GREENVILLE, S.C. -- Don Blair, store manager for the Bi-Lo supermarket located at 1735 Heckle Blvd. in Rock Hill, S.C., received the 2007 Superior Service Award from the Food Marketing Institute.

Blair has been employed by Bi-Lo since 1980 and has held the position of store manager at several locations.

Throughout his career, Blair has "created a culture that promotes positive growth, outstanding customer satisfaction, and community relations," according to a statement from Bi-Lo. "These efforts have a positive impact on sales, profits, teammate satisfaction, and customer satisfaction." The retailer said he consistently ranks in the top 10 percent of the company in customer satisfaction surveys.

"Don Blair has a history of developing others, and his store is a 'center of excellence' for the Bi-Lo School of Business," said Calvin Rash, district manager at Bi-Lo. "He has been recognized by his peers for outstanding financial performance in sales and earnings, and was awarded the President's Club membership for 11 consecutive years."

Blair has served as a member of the Store Manager Marketing Council and has been awarded the Outstanding Achiever Award at Bi-Lo's annual management conference for the past three years.

Blair's major contributions to the community include raising more than $41,000 for United Way over the past four years, developing a partnership with the Rock Hill Police Department to sponsor the Worthy Boys & Girls Club by raising over $20,000 in 2006, helping coordinate the "Little Miss Bi-Lo Pageant" for York County in 2006 and helping organize efforts for his district's JDRF fundraiser, which provided over $6,000 to help find a cure for juvenile diabetes.

Bi-Lo operates nearly 230 supermarkets in South Carolina, North Carolina, Georgia, and Tennessee.
