Bi-Lo Installs Energy-Saving Custom Doors to open Cases
Bi-Lo has installed insulated glass doors to previously open cases at three of its Tennessee stores in an effort to further its commitment to efficient store operations while providing a comfortable environment for shoppers.
The grocer installed 432 feet of RemiSafe doors from Elkhart, Ind.-based Remis America. “The doors help us achieve a number of things,” said Dennis Gibson, director of maintenance and energy services for BI-LO. “They give us more control over case temperatures allowing us to save on energy and maintain product integrity. Not only that, our customers have made numerous positive comments about how much warmer and more comfortable our aisles are.”
Bi-Lo plans on installing REMIS doors in approximately 35 stores this year, with several more in Tennessee already scheduled.
Remis America offers retro-fit refrigeration doors and covers to grocery retailers and OEM case manufacturers that it says cut energy costs up to 80 percent while also greatly reducing retailers’ carbon footprint. These energy-saving systems include a full range of medium temperature insulated glass doors and bunker freezer covers, installation and service.
