Bi-Lo to Host Tour of Hope Rally

MAULDIN, S.C. -- Seven-time Tour de France winner Lance Armstrong will make a stop at a Bi-Lo-sponsored rally in downtown Greenville, S.C. this week, as the Bristol-Myers Squibb Tour of Hope makes its way to Washington, D.C.

On Oct. 5 Armstrong will join fellow pro cyclist and Greenville native George Hincapie, and recording artist Edwin McCain, in downtown Greenville for the Tour of Hope celebration, which is co-sponsored by Dasani water.

Bi-Lo and Dasani representatives will be on hand at the event to present a check to the Greenville Hospital System Cancer Unit. The donation comes from a campaign in which a contribution for each case of Dasani bottled water sold at Bi-Lo stores between July and October has been set aside. The contributions are expected to exceed $80,000.

"The Tour of Hope Celebration is being presented as a tribute to families who have faced the reality of having a loved one diagnosed with cancer. Nearly every one of us knows a cancer patient or a patient's family member affected by the disease, and through this donation we hope to be closer than ever to finding a cure," said Dean Cohagan, Bi-Lo/Bruno's president and c.e.o., in a statement.

This year marks the third year for the Tour of Hope, a bike ride founded by Armstrong that benefits cancer patients. This year's ride started in San Diego Sept. 29 and concludes Oct. 9 in Washington, D.C.
