BI-LO to Deploy, Brookshire to Extend Consumer Demand Management Solutions

MAULDIN, S.C. and TYLER, Texas - Southern U.S. supermarket operator Bi-Lo LLC plans to deploy consumer demand management software to enhance its customer service.

The retailer signed a 36-month agreement license the Price, Promotion, and TradePoint software modules from DemandTec, San Carlos, Calif.

"BI-LO is known throughout the South for offering an exceptional selection of products as well as affordable prices to our shoppers," said Dean Cohagan, BI-LO's president and c.e.o. "We believe our choice of [solution] will enable us to further enhance our customer-service levels."

BI-LO operates more than 300 supermarkets in South Carolina, North Carolina, Georgia, Tennessee, Alabama and Florida, and employs approximately 23,500 associates.

Tyler, Texas-based Brookshire Grocery Co., another DemandTec customer, decided to renew its agreement with the vendor based on the consistent financial benefits it has realized since licensing its software.

"We're delighted with the rewards we've experienced during our past four years as a DemandTec customer," said Gary Butler, Brookshire's c.i.o. "DemandTec's software supports our strong commitment to customer service by helping us enforce pricing rules and improve decisions about our pricing and promotion strategies."

Brookshire is a privately owned supermarket chain with stores in Texas, Louisiana, Arkansas, and Mississippi. The company has more than 12,000 associates serving customers in several store formats: Super 1 Foods, which provides customers with a warehouse-style shopping experience; and Ole Foods, which serves Hispanic consumers and others by providing ethnic foods, Spanish/English signage and bilingual store personnel.

Now entering its fifth year as a DemandTec customer, Brookshire Grocery Company uses the DemandTec software to support pricing in over 150 stores.

Other DemandTec customers include Best Buy, Circle K Stores, Delhaize America, Giant-Carlisle, H-E-B Grocery Co., Monoprix, and Safeway.
