Bi-Lo Debuts North Carolina's First Super Bi-Lo

Mauldin, S.C.-based regional grocer Bi-Lo LLC yesterday opened its first North Carolina Super Bi-Lo, in the city of Matthews.

The nearly 58,000-square-foot supermarket represents an investment in excess of $13 million, Bi-Lo said. Super Bi-Lo is designed to provide many of the conveniences of one-stop shopping for busy families.

"As a result of listening to our customers, this store features an expanded organic selection in produce, fresh sushi daily, more seafood variety, and Certified Angus Beef in the meat department," said Bi-Lo president and c.e.o. Brian Hotarek at the ribbon cutting ceremony.

Super Bi-Lo has a full-service floral department, with FTD services, as well as full-service meat and seafood departments. This location also features a J.J. Poloi's coffee shop and WiFi cafe. The in-store pharmacy has a drive-through window, and new customers who transfer and fill their prescriptions at the store will receive a $25 Bi-Lo gift card.

The new store will be open 24 hours a day.

Combined with capital announcements made last year, the new Super Bi-Lo represents a $45 million investment in the greater Charlotte market, according to Bi-Lo, which operates 223 supermarkets in the Carolinas, Georgia, and Tennessee.
