Barons Market to Host Gluten-free Tasting Panel

Community-based independent Barons Market will host its third-annual gluten-free tasting panel tomorrow at its Point Loma, Calif., store.

The panel, consisting of gluten-intolerant customers, will join Barons' management team and CEO to sample a selection of gluten-free foods. Together, they will decide which products the company’s four locations in San Diego and Riverside counties will offer, based upon taste, packaging, selection and price.

According to San Diego-based Barons, recent studies report Americans are expected to spend more than $6 billion on gluten-free diets by 2017, with an estimated one-third of the population trying to avoid gluten. Barons Market currently offers more than 500 gluten-free items.
