Balls Teams with Balance Innovations
Balls Food Stores has selected the vbEPIX electronic check processing solution by Balance Innovations, packaged with Epson's award-winning CaptureOne check scanner, to improve its check processing.
The grocer chose this solution because it provides a faster, easier method for the retailer's stores to deposit checks, resulting in labor savings, according to said Mike Beal, Balls CFO. “VbEPIX and the CaptureOne have made a tremendous impact on how we handle checks,” Beal said. “The solution is easy for our teammates to use and is a seamless, simple process for converting all check types.”
Balls has been using Balance Innovations’ VeriBalance cash office management solution for several years. VbEPIX integrates with VeriBalance and the store point-of-sale system to reconcile, at the check level, customer check images with the POS. Store bookkeepers simply image all the checks with Epson’s CaptureOne Single-Feed check scanner as part of the VeriBalance till balance process, and check data and images are transmitted electronically and automatically for processing. Checks no longer need to be physically transported to the bank.
“Epson’s CaptureOne scans the checks clearly and precisely, producing accurate, easy-to-view images in the vbEPIX portal,” said Shelley Bosler, Balance Innovations VP of product management. “The high-quality images are why we selected and certified it for use with vbEPIX. Balls Food has been our partner for many years, and it’s our privilege to provide them with solutions to improve their cash office operations. They are a respected independent retailer, and we value their innovation and drive to adopt new technology.”
With vbEPIX, retailers can eliminate traditional check encoding and ten-key functions along with the associated errors. The solution ensures that the retailer’s deposit is correct before it reaches the bank. Once a check has been imaged, vbEPIX determines the most cost-effective way to process the transaction and sends it through the appropriate network for clearing. VbEPIX allows retailers to process all check types – including personal, WIC, and payroll – electronically through one method.
VbEPIX allows retailers to lower transaction costs, reduce bank fees and eliminate bank adjustments; stop transporting checks to the bank for processing; improve cash flow and working capital through accelerated clearings and improved availability; eliminate deposit preparation; and identify returned items sooner.
