Balducci's Plans Tasting Party for Healthy Snack Line Launch

BETHESDA, Md. -- Balducci's here will hold an in-store tasting party Sept. 30 to help introduce Snikiddy Snacks, a healthy snack line that the gourmet grocer is the first food retailer to offer in the Mid-Atlantic region, starting Friday.

The event for parents and children will take place from noon to 2 p.m. at Balducci's Bethesda store at 10323 Old Georgetown Road.

Designed to fit in small hands, child-friendly Snikiddy Snacks, made with 100 percent organic ingredients that are free of pesticides, herbicides, genetic modification, and refinement, come in such varieties as Pizza Pie Puffs, Chocolate Chippers, and Banana Nibbles.

"We were very happy to find these tasty little treats," said Balducci's grocery merchant Chris Lucas in a statement. "Our panel of tasters -- ages 3, 4, 6, 37, and 40 -- all agree that the Pizza Pie Puffs are our favorites -- tomato-y with just the right amount of pizza-spice, and unlike other puffed snacks, they don't turn your fingers orange -- always a bonus in our book!"

The snacks will be available in both Sharing Packs (four-to-five-ounce family-size bags) and Adventure Packs (one box consisting of five individual pouches for lunches and munching on the go) at all Balducci's locations. Each variety will retail for $4.99 per pack.

Balducci's operates 10 stores and four restaurants.
