AWG Makes Organizational Changes

Associated Wholesale Grocers (AWG) has made two organizational changes: Scott Welman is now EVP and chief development officer, and Stephanie Becker is now SVP, general counsel and corporate secretary, succeeding Welman.

In his new role, Welman will focus on all aspects of new store and business development, as well as strategic growth opportunities. He began working for the wholesaler in 2004 as VP of legal affairs as well as leading the successful startup of Always Fresh, the whoesaler’s military supply subsidiary.

He most recently served as EVP of real estate, general counsel and corporate secretary. In his new role, he will continue to oversee the company’s real estate and engineering departments, as well as the Design & Décor Source Group (DSG).

Stephanie Becker

Becker has been with AWG since 2005 and most recently served as VP and deputy general counsel. In her new role, Stephanie will serve as AWG’s Chief Legal Officer and will lead all legal affairs for the company and its subsidiaries.

The nation’s largest cooperative food wholesaler to independent grocery stores, AWG serves more than 1,100 member companies and 3,800-plus locations throughout 36 states from eight full-line wholesale divisions. As well as its cooperative wholesale operations, the company operates subsidiary companies providing certain real estate and supermarket development services, print and digital marketing services, and health and beauty care, general merchandise, specialty/international foods and pharmaceutical products for independent grocers.
