A&W, Sunkist Launch Ice Cream Float in a Bottle

PLANO, Texas - Cadbury Schweppes Americas Beverages here has mated two of its beverage brands to bring a traditional soda fountain favorite to the grocery store aisle, in the form of A&W and Sunkist Floats.

The beverage maker, a subsidiary of Cadbury Schweppes plc, said the "float-like beverages" under the dual brands will "recreate all the rich creamy frothiness of a real ice cream float" in 11.5-ounce, vintage soda-shop-inspired glass bottles with twist-off tops. The company said the beverage is the first of its kind.

"For years, beverage makers have tried to crack the code and develop an indulgent drink that tastes like a homemade float," said Andrew Springate, vice president of marketing for the Cadbury Schweppes division.

The suggested retail price is $1.79 for a single serve bottle and $5.99 for a 4- pack, the company said.

A&W and Sunkist are leading brands in the beverage portfolio of Cadbury Schweppes Americas Beverages, one of the largest producers of soft drinks and other beverages in the Americas. Its brand portfolio includes Dr Pepper, 7UP, Snapple, Accelerade, Mott's Apple Juice and Sauce, RC Cola, A&W Root Beer, Sunkist Soda, Canada Dry, Hawaiian Punch, Schweppes, Diet Rite, Clamato, Mr & Mrs T Mixers, Holland House Mixers, Rose's, Mistic, Yoo- hoo, Orangina, IBC, Stewart's, and Nantucket Nectars.
