AT&T to Update UNFI's Network Services

DAYVILLE, Conn. -- United Natural Foods, Inc. (UNFI) here has entered into a three-year, $1.2 million contract with AT&T that will see the communications company provide the distributor with new fiber-access services.

AT&T's ACCU-Ring Network Access Service will allow UNFI to virtually eliminate data center downtime caused by access issues and improve application performance by consolidating all voice, data, and video traffic.

The service's architecture will protect UNFI's critical applications from disruption or degradation in quality due to loss of signal or transmission impairment, since it employs a dual-fiber self-healing ring with a primary and protected path. By updating network access services from copper to fiber, UNFI will be able to better control costs and position itself for upcoming access technologies that will keep pace with the distributor as its communications needs grow.
