Aspen Grove Market Expands Delivery Area, Prepared Food Offerings

BOULDER, Colo. - Regional online grocer Aspen Grove Market, based here, last week expanded its delivery area and added to its line of prepared meal solutions by offering chef-prepared Thanksgiving turkeys and turkey dinners.

The retailer said the expansion comes on the heels of September sales that were double that of the prior two-month period. Aspen Grove Market also recently registered its 2,100th customer, and since July, has introduced almost 1,000 new products -- all by customer request -- to its online store across natural, organic, conventional, and local product categories. It now carries approximately 5,000 products online.

With the latest expansion to the town of Longmont, Aspen Grove Market now serves all of Boulder, Louisville, Lafayette, Superior, and areas of east Boulder County, including portions of Erie.

"The decision to expand to Longmont was supported by having an existing base of 40 customers in southwest Longmont from earlier marketing efforts," said Brian Chrisman, president. "There are also 100 additional registered customers elsewhere in Longmont waiting for us to deliver to them. Expanding to Longmont increases the number of households in our delivery area by 50 percent and we expect the expansion to drive a similar level of growth in our business."

For Thanksgiving, Aspen Grove Market has added chef-prepared turkeys and turkey dinner packages to its line of all-natural prepared meals. Pre-ordered online, the turkeys and turkey dinner packages are prepared by Aspen's partner, Fast and Fresh Food, Inc. and then delivered to the customer's door on November 22nd. The retailer's strategy behind this program is to provide time-savings and convenience while allowing the customer to finish cooking the turkey and fixings.

Aspen Grove Market introduced a line of prepared meals in September and has since expanded it to include a full line of fresh-frozen meals, entrees, sides, and desserts. "This has quickly become a significant sales category for us," said Chrisman. "After the pilot period, we doubled the number of items we carry in this line due to customer demand."
