Asda to Open More Photo Shops, Exposes 'Price Rip-off' Among Competitors
LONDON - Wal-Mart-owned Asda today said it will almost double the number of photograph shops it has after conducting a survey which, it said, exposed a "photo price rip-off" among its competitors, Dow Jones reports.
The survey compares Asda's film processing prices with a leading high-street photo shop in London. It showed that it costs GBP22.49 ($34.16) more to develop four APS, or advanced photo system, films of 24 exposures and three 7x5 digital prints in one hour at a leading high-street photo shop than it does at Asda.
Asda currently has 44 photo centers, and said that it plans to open another 35 photo centers before the end of 2003.
