Arkansas Martin Luther King, Jr. Commission Honors Tyson Foods

SPRINGDALE, Ark -- Tyson Foods, Inc. here has received the 2008 Corporate Award for Community Service from the Arkansas Martin Luther King, Jr. Commission.

Tyson, along with several individuals and organizations, were recognized by the Commission Friday in Little Rock as part of its "Salute to Greatness Community Service Awards Gala."

"Our company strives to be an active, supportive citizen in all the communities where we do business and appreciate being recognized for our efforts," said Libby Lawson, Tyson's v.p. of media and community relations.

Tyson employs more than 104,000 Team Members, including more than 22,000 in Arkansas, and supports numerous non-profit organizations and projects each year. Since 2000, the company has donated $3 million and more than 49 million pounds of chicken, beef and pork products to more than 600 hunger-relief agencies nationwide. These donations have included food banks and other non-profit groups in Arkansas.
