A&P, Zavers Offer Free Reusable Bags

Through April 30, the Great Atlantic & Pacific Tea Co. and Zavers are teaming up for Earth Month promotion in which participating customers can receive a free reusable Elizabeth Haub bag by redeeming a paperless coupon linked directly to their shopper loyalty cards.

Made from all recycled materials, the popular designer-quality bags are carried in A&P banner stores. Proceeds from the bags’ sale go to support lobbying efforts for environmental preservation. Additionally, Kansas City, Kan.-based Zavers’ Web and mobile platform provides customer savings in an eco-friendly manner.

The Montvale, N.J.-based grocer’s A&P, The Food Emporium, Pathmark, SuperFresh and Waldbaum’s stores are taking part in the promotion. Customers can find and save the coupon for a free reusable Elizabeth Haub bag at each banner’s Web site.

“As Earth Day approaches, the Great Atlantic & Pacific Tea Co. family of supermarkets and Zavers are delivering simple ways for consumers to be environmentally friendly and save money,” noted A&P. “Consumers want to do their part in helping the environment, but often they simply don’t know what to do or how to help. By providing valuable offers online and on mobile phones, Zavers and [A&P] are making grocery shopping more economical, while also fulfilling shoppers’ desire to support the environment.”

A&P has worked with Zavers since 2009, when the two companies introduced the paperless digital coupon service Red Tag Online Savings in August of that year for A&P, Waldbaum’s and SuperFresh club card members, while The Food Emporium bowed a similar program called Fresh Online Savings, also courtesy of Zavers.
