A&P to Sell 8 New England Stores to GU Family Markets
MONTVALE, N.J. - The Great Atlantic & Pacific Tea Company on Friday announced an agreement to sell eight stores in northern New England to GU Family Markets. The transaction will conclude A&P's previously announced divestiture of operations in northern New England.
Completion of the transaction is subject to customary conditions and reviews.
Located in Connecticut and Massachusetts, the stores complement GU Markets' existing stores in Vermont, New York and Pennsylvania. GU Markets is headquartered in Clifton Park, N.Y.
In February A&P sold nine New England stores to Stop & Shop and the Big Y chain.
