A&P Names Tenglemann Exec to New Senior Strategy Post

MONTVALE, N.J. - Tenglemann has exported senior-level executive Andreas Guldin to serve on the board of its U.S. company, The Great Atlantic & Pacific Tea Co., Inc. here, and also fill the new position of executive managing director, strategy and corporate development at A&P.

Guldin most recently was senior e.v.p., corporate finance and co-c.f.o. of Muelheim, Germany-based Tengelmann, which is A&P's majority shareholder. Guldin will now report directly to A&P's executive chairman Christian Haub.

According to Haub, Guldin is no stranger to A&P. "[Guldin's] expertise and counsel have been invaluable to A&P's strategic development, as recently exemplified by his instrumental role in our pending acquisition of Pathmark Stores, Inc.," said Haub in a statement.

Guldin joined Tengelmann in 2005. Before that he was c.f.o. of E. Breuninger GmbH & Co., a Stuttgart, Germany-based department store operator; and also served as a senior business consultant at PA Consulting and CSC Index, also in Germany.

A&P operates 406 stores in nine states and the District of Columbia under the A&P, Waldbaum's, The Food Emporium, Super Foodmart, Super Fresh, Farmer Jack, Sav-A-Center, and Food Basics banners.
