A&P Joins Forces with the Children's Health Fund
MONTVALE, N.J. -- The Great Atlantic & Pacific Tea Co., Inc. here and the Children's Health Fund (CHF), based in New York, have formed a partnership to conduct fundraising activities at A&P and its affiliated stores.
A&P and the CHF announced the partnership at a celebration last week marking the grand reopening of the chain's Food Emporium Bridgemarket store in Manhattan. The location is the first of 18 Food Emporium stores that will feature the company's new Fine Foods Concept, rolled out earlier this month.
Said Haub in a statement: "Our organizations have come together to raise funds for the health and well-being of children in New York City and around the U.S."
Added CHF president Redlener: "A&P's support in achieving the goal of raising $1 million for The CHF's work over the next three years will go a long way in helping us provide care for children in the years to come."
Composer/performer Paul Simon and Irwin Redlener, MD, both of whom attended the event, are co-founders of the CHF. Also headlining the celebration at the store were TV personality Jane Pauley, a longtime supporter of the CHF and current chair of its advisory board, and A&P executive chairman Christian Haub. The event additionally included a live auction fundraiser for a guitar autographed by Simon.
