A&P Gets New C.F.O., Corporate Controller

MONTVALE, N.J. -- The Great Atlantic & Pacific Tea Company, Inc., based here, said Friday that Brenda Galgano succeeded Mitchell P. Goldstein as s.v.p. and c.f.o. of the company. Goldstein left A&P Friday to pursue other opportunities, the company said.

A&P also promoted Melissa Sungela to v.p. and corporate controller, replacing Galgano in that position. Sungela was previously served as v.p. and assistant corporate controller.

A&P operates 417 stores in 10 states under the A&P, Waldbaum's, The Food Emporium, Super Foodmart, Super Fresh, Farmer Jack, Sav-A-Center, and Food Basics banners. The company, which has recently experienced financial difficulties, is in the process of restructuring its business through such strategies as concentrating on its core Northeast market.
