Ameritas Policyholders Get Rx Savings at Walmart, Sam's Club

Ameritas Group, a division of Ameritas Life Insurance Corp., a UNIFI company, has launched an optional no-additional-cost prescription discount savings offer at Walmart and Sam’s Club pharmacies across the United States for dental, eye care and hearing care policyholders. Because program isn’t insurance, it adds value without raising premium costs, according to Lincoln, Neb.-based Ameritas.

“We’re always looking for ways to offer additional value to our policyholders and plan members,” noted Ameritas SVP of group marketing, managed care and national accounts. Karen Gustin. “With health care expenditures at record levels, the Walmart Prescription Savings Program couldn’t have come at a better time. It’s alarming to think that anyone would have to forgo or limit vital prescription medications because of cost.”

Under the program, Ameritas dental, eye care and hearing care cardholders can show their Ameritas ID card at any Walmart or Sam’s Club pharmacy in the United State to receive savings. The program is administered for Walmart by the Fairfield, N.J.-based Macaluso Group, which said that Ameritas cardholders can expect to obtain more than 1,000 generic drug prescriptions at the everyday low price of $4, all other generics at an average savings of around 40 percent, and most brand-name prescriptions at 10 percent to 15 percent savings.
