Alliance Names SVP-Midwest

Alliance Retail Group (ARG) has named Matt Jonas SVP‐Midwest, in which he will operate the new ARG office in Kansas City, Mo.

"Matt has over 50 years of solid retail food experience in the Kansas City and Midwest markets, and he is a perfect fit to help us grow this very important segment of business for ARG," said Joe Wolf, president of Goodlettsville, Tenn.-based ARG.

Jonas' most recent role was VP of Balls Price Chopper's operations in the Kansas City metropolitan area, a position he had held since 2000. From 1996 to 1999, he was both director of operations and director of marketing at Topeka, Kan.-based Bauersfeld Enterprises. From 1977 to 1996, Jonas worked at the Kansas City division of Fleming Cos., starting as division sales representative and rising to division sales manager, division president and corporate group VP of distribution.

Local Hero

Jonas began his retail food career at Kansas City’s Milgram's Food Stores, where he worked from 1965 to 1977.

"The two things that are most 'in my blood' are retail foods and Kansas City," noted Jonas. "Running the ARG office here will allow me to share the most current economic growth trends and products with the community that I love, and I can’t wait to be a part of the continued success of these retailers."
