Albertsons Starts Shoe Drive to Benefit Disaster Victims

In the wake of the recent natural disasters in Myanmar and China, San Diego area Albertsons stores will begin collecting shoes June 1-7 for the Nashville-based Soles4Souls, which facilitates the donations of footwear to aid the needy worldwide.

Supervalu-owned Albertsons said consumer can drop off shoes in San Diego, Ramona, Fallbrook, Temecula, Murrieta, Lake Ellsinore, Corona, Sun City, and Hemet.

"Albertsons is passionately committed to serving our neighbors in need," said Charla Giles, area v.p., San Diego for the chain. "We are partnering with Soles4Souls for the third year in a row to enable our customers to get into the spirit of giving back to those less fortunate."

Albertsons' Southern California Division operates 286 Albertsons and Lucky supermarkets in Southern California and Southern Nevada, from its headquarters in Fullerton, Calif.
