Albertsons Realigns 8 Stores Under The United Family

Albertsons will realign eight stores in west Texas under The United Family, beginning May 30.

The move, which will affect three stores each in Midland and Odessa, and one each in San Angelo and Abilene, aims to boost operational and distribution efficiencies, the company said.

All stores will continue to operate under the Albertsons Market name, and no changes will be made to store management or personnel.

“With our Lubbock-based distribution center within 125-200 miles of these cities, we can serve these eight stores more efficiently and most effectively," said Robert Taylor, president of The United Family.

Noting the importance to invest in both the Albertsons and Untied brands, Taylor noted that the eight affected stores are "high-volume" and "well operated," adding that the "goal is to maintain their positive performance and, as is true for all of our stores, look for ways to grow that production in the future.”

The United Family, based in Lubbock, operates 60 stores under the United Supermarkets, Market Street, Amigos and United Express banners, along with ancillary operations R.C. Taylor Distributing, Praters and Llano Logistics.
