Albertsons Expands Craft Beer Offerings

Albertsons has expanded its craft beer offerings with the addition of The Growler Station Express in its Desert Ridge location in Phoenix, Ariz., at 21001 N. Tatum Blvd.

The grocer's decision to bring the beer service to its Desert Ridge store came on the heels of the positive consumer response to GS Express' launch in two Albertsons locations in Boise, Idaho.

“We are thrilled to be able to continue to expand into more Albertsons locations,” said Tony Lane, EVP and co-founder of The Growler Station Inc. “America’s love for craft beer is growing, and we plan to grow with it with the help of large retail chains like Albertsons.”

Enabling consumers to fill up their growler with craft beer while they shop, The Growler Station Express uses a patented Pegas counter pressure growler-filling technology designed to keep craft beer fresh for 30-45 days.

Albertsons is a subsidiary of Cerberus Capital-owned AB Acquisition LLC, which also operates Acme Markets, Jewel-Osco, Lucky, Shaws, Star Market and Super Saver, as well as stores under the United Family, Amigos, Market Street and United Supermarkets brands. The company recently merged with Safeway Inc.
