Albertson's and Coca-Cola Sponsor Program for Black History Month

BOISE, Idaho - Albertson's family of stores and the Coca-Cola Company are honoring the achievements and contributions of African-American entrepreneurs during Black History Month by donating a portion of proceeds from sales of African-American manufactured and distributed products to museums across the country.

"The achievements and examples set by these African-American entrepreneurs give hope to all our children," said Larry Johnston, Albertson's chairman and CEO. "Albertson's raises the bar honoring the entire African-American community by supporting the growth of these businesses and investing in museums that educate us all about African-American history."

Museums benefiting from the donations include Chicago's DuSable Museum of African-American History, Wisconsin Black History Society, the African-American Museum in Philadelphia, Kansas City's Negro Leagues of Baseball Museum, California African-American Museum, African-American Museum & Library at Oakland, and the African-American Museum in Dallas.

The program, which runs throughout the month of February, is supported by Albertson's and Coca-Cola.

"At Coca-Cola we believe in investing in the communities in which we operate," said Brian Pohl, national account executive, Coca-Cola Enterprises. "We are pleased to partner with Albertson's in programs that enhance community values. The Black History Month program is an event that not only supports a worthwhile cause, but celebrates the achievements of African-American entrepreneurs and promotes support among the African-American community."
