Ahold USA Banners' ‘A+ School Rewards’ Back in Session

Now that school has started again, customers of Ahold USA banners Stop & Shop, Giant-Landover and Giant-Carlisle can sign up once again for “A+ School Rewards.” The program enables shoppers to raise funds for up to two local schools of their choice. Since it launched in 2009, A+ School Rewards has donated more than $4 million to area schools in participating markets. In the 2012-2013 school year, Stop & Shop will donate $2.5 million through the program.

“Schools are important to our customers, and families are always looking for easy ways to raise money,” said Suzi Robinson, spokeswoman for Stop & Shop New England Division in Quincy, Mass. “Stop & Shop’s A+ School Rewards is simple: Customers designate schools on their Stop & Shop cards, earn points when they shop with their card in stores or at peapod.com, and at the end of the year, schools receive money. We want to make giving back effortless for our customers.”

From Oct. 5 through March 28, Stop & Shop and Giant-Landover customers can help local schools earn cash for technology, scholarship programs, summer programs, field trips, playgrounds and other educational needs. There’s no limit to what schools can do with their A+ School Rewards, which accrue with each purchase a customer makes using a store loyalty card. Points can also accrue when shopping with a loyalty card on Skokie, Ill.-based Internet grocer Peapod, which is also an Ahold USA company.

A+ School Rewards at Giant-Carlisle runs from Oct. 7 through March 31.

“We know each school has different needs, and A+ School Rewards allows schools to fund what is most important each year,” noted Arlene Putterman, spokeswoman for Stop & Shop New York Metro Division in Purchase, N.Y.

Shoppers enrolling in the program are required to re-designate their chosen schools each year. Starting in November, current school totals will be available on the A+ website.
