Ahold USA to Add More Categories to Price Cuts Program

QUINCY, Mass. and LANDOVER, Md. -- Expanding their ongoing "Low Prices Every Day" program, Ahold USA chains The Stop & Shop Supermarket Co. and Giant Food, LLC have cut prices on salad dressings, condiments and other flavor enhancers.

Starting Friday, the Ahold banners are offering lower prices on a wide variety of salad dressings; condiments such as ketchup, mustard, and relish, and mayonnaise; cooking oils; sauces and marinades; shortening; pickles; olives; vinegar; and jarred pickles and peppers, Ahold said.

It said Low Prices Every Day aims to slash prices throughout the store. "In the past year, we've lowered thousands of prices in over 70 percent of the store on items that customers use most, and we're continuing to lower prices in more aisles in the coming months," said Ahold USA consumer advisor Andrea Astrachan. "Despite the current economy, we will keep our prices as low as we can, without sacrificing the quality and service our customers have come to expect."

To date, Stop & Shop and Giant have cut prices on thousands of other products, including produce, dairy products, cookies and crackers, frozen foods, water, coffee, juices, cereal, pet foods, paper goods, baby care products, and household supplies.

"There are more lower prices to come," said Astrachan.

Stop & Shop operates 389 stores throughout Massachusetts, Connecticut, Rhode Island, Maine, New Hampshire, New York, and New Jersey. Giant Food operates 184 supermarkets in Virginia, Maryland, Delaware, and the District of Columbia. Included within its 184 stores are 165 full-service pharmacies.
