Ahold Supply Chain Expert Joins Best Buy

MINNEAPOLIS -- Daniel E. Currie, 52, former e.v.p. of supply chain and logistics for Ahold USA, has joined Best Buy Co., Inc. as its new s.v.p. of global supply chain.

Best Buy is one of many various retailers striving to eliminate costs from the supply chain while improving efficiencies and improving customer service and loyalty. Commenting on Currie’s appointment, Best Buy’s Bob Willett, e.v.p., operations, said: "Leading grocers have mastered this challenge and that's why we are so pleased to have Dan Currie join Best Buy. Dan, a supply chain expert from the food retailing world, will help us more fully leverage our logistics, inventory, and distribution strategies to support our growth initiatives."

Currie brings more than 35 years of experience in food retailing operations and supply chain management to Best Buy. Prior to his corporate duties with Ahold’s U.S. operations, Currie led retail operations, distribution and manufacturing operations for Giant Foods, LLC as company's executive vice president of operations. His experience also includes executive management positions at American Stores Company. He began his career in retail management and operations at Lucky Stores, Inc.
