Ahold Publishes Reports Online Exclusively

Ahold yesterday published its 2008 Annual Report and 2008 Corporate Responsibility Report exclusively online for the first time. Both reports can be read or downloaded from Netherlands-based company's Web site, www.ahold.com/reports2008.

"They have been published electronically to reduce the environmental impact associated with printing, conserve resources and save costs," the company explained.

Both reports bear the subtitle "Making It Easy." The 56-page corporate responsibility report details the progress Ahold has made in contributing to such areas as health and wellness, climate action, fighting hunger and multicultural initiatives. "Our programs, coupled with the commitment and passion of our employees in supporting them, are making a difference in each of the communities we serve," noted CEO John Rishton in the report.

The 123-page annual report outlines Ahold's business activities and performance in 2008. "We made good progress with our strategy for profitable growth, increased sales and operating income and strengthened our competitive position," observed Rishton.

A summary report has also been printed, with a limited number available in English and Dutch.
