Ahold Names Rishton Prez

AMSTERDAM -- Ahold has named John Rishton president and c.e.o. of the retail conglomerate. Rishton has served as acting president and c.e.o. since July 2007.

"After careful consideration, the supervisory board unanimously reached the conclusion that John is the right individual to lead Ahold into the future," said René Dahan, chairman of Ahold's supervisory board, in a statement. "John has the skills, capabilities, and knowledge of Ahold necessary to drive [our] strategy for sustainable profitable growth."

The company has also appointed deputy c.f.o. Kimberly Ross to the position of c.f.o., succeeding Rishton. Ross has been nominated by the supervisory board for appointment to the Ahold corporate executive board and will immediately assume her duties as an acting executive board member. According to Dahan, "Kimberly brings a proven track record in finance, as well as a deep knowledge of Ahold."

Further, Peter Wakkie, e.v.p. and chief corporate governance counsel, has accepted another term as a member of the corporate executive board.

Dahan noted that the management team of Rishton, Ross, Wakkie, Ahold Europe c.o.o. Dick Boer, and Ahold USA c.o.o. Lawrence Benjamin "will form a powerful team. Their combined talent, skills and experience will be instrumental in driving the performance of Ahold to its full potential."
