AG New England Names Head of New Store Merchandising/Design Dept.

MANCHESTER, N.H. -- Associated Grocers of New England here has named Steve Picarillo to lead the grocery co-op's store merchandising and design department, which was formerly known as store development.

In his new role Picarillo, who already handled product merchandising activities with the company's member customers, additionally has taken on the responsibility for AG New England's design initiatives.

"More time and resources are being spent in this area," noted AG New England s.v.p. Mike Violette, to whom Picarillo reports. "As store merchandising manager, Steve is now responsible for the department's total operations and is considerably involved with the equipment sales functions of the department."

AG New England, owned entirely by independent retail grocers as members of a cooperative, is the largest retailer-owned wholesale grocery distribution center in the region. It serves independent retail food stores in Maine, Connecticut, Rhode Island, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Vermont, and the upstate New York/Albany area.
