AG New England Names Environmental, Safety, and Health Manager

PEMBROKE, N.H. -- Associated Grocers of New England here has promoted Jeff Sawyer to the position of environmental, safety, and health manager, assuming some of the responsibilities formerly held by Laurie Glaude, who has left the company.

Sawyer joined AG New England in January 2004 as safety and health supervisor. "Since his arrival Jeff has been instrumental in developing outstanding safety and training programs," said s.v.p./c.f.o. Steve Murphy, to whom Sawyer reports, in a statement. "Under his leadership, we continue to experience excellent results in our safety record.

Sawyer previously served as health, safety, and environmental coordinator with Saint-Gobain Corp. in Merrimack, N.H.; operations manager with BCEP Solid Waste District in Pittsfield, N.H.; and environmental control technician and aircraft electrician with Boeing Aerospace in Seattle. He was also a guidance and control systems technician for the U.S. Air Force, based at McChord Air Force Base in Washington.

The company serves independent retail food stores in Maine, Connecticut, Rhode Island, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Vermont and the upstate New York/Albany area.
