Acosta Names Jack Laurendeau Vice Chairman

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- Acosta Sales and Marketing Co. said it has appointed Jack Laurendeau to vice chairman of the board of directors effective March 1, 2007.

Laurendeau will continue to oversee operations, as well as the development of new business platforms, for Acosta, Inc., the brokerage said. He will continue reporting to Gary R. Chartrand, chairman and c.e.o.

Laurendeau has served on Acosta's board since 1999. Prior to his time at Acosta, he served as director of national food sales for Welch's, where he spent nine years working in corporate and field sales positions of increasing responsibility. Laurendeau also worked for Coca-Cola Foods as district manager-New England and for Scott Paper Company.

In 1993, he became v.p. of grocery sales for MAI-Alper Inc., serving in various leadership capacities before being named president and c.o.o. in 1996. Laurendeau became part of the Acosta family when Acosta acquired MAI.

In other Acosta news, the company said Friday it had completed the acquisition of Crawford and Company Brokerage Inc., Impact Food Sales Inc., and Amalgamated Brokerage Corp. Acosta said these acquisitions will advance its strategy to expand in the fresh foods area.

"Each of these agencies has a client portfolio that is very complementary to our existing Acosta Fresh Foods organization," Acosta president and c.o.o. Robert Hill said in a statement.

Acosta Sales and Marketing Co. is a leading full-service sales and marketing agency in North America, providing outsourced sales, merchandising, marketing, and promotional services to manufacturers in the consumer packaged goods (CPG) industry.
