ACNielsen Signs Hannaford Brothers to Category Business Planner Contract

ACNielsen U.S., an operating unit of ACNielsen, a VNU company, on Wednesday announced Hannaford Bros. Co. has joined the list of retailers whose product sales information will be included on its new Category Business Planner (CBP) category management intelligence system. With the agreement, ACNielsen becomes Hannaford Bros. Co. preferred provider of syndicated consumer packaged goods information and insights.

The agreement, announced here during the annual ACNielsen Category Masters event, covers 115 stores located in the Northeastern United States operating under the names Hannaford Food and Drug and Shop 'n Save, as well as 140 Kash 'n Karry stores in Florida.

According to Brian Zappala, Hannaford Bros. Co. senior vice president of merchandising and distribution, "This is exactly the tool we need to add efficiencies to our system and drive our business forward."

Dan Sacco, ACNielsen senior vice president, retail services and business development, welcomed the addition of Hannaford Bros. Co. Besides Hannaford Bros. Co., the list of CBP retailers now includes SUPERVALU, Meijer, Bruno's, and Walgreens.
