Acme Building Bigger N.J. Store

Acme Markets Inc. has revealed plans to construct a new Beach Haven store in Long Beach Township, N.J. The new store will be nearly twice as large as the current 38,900-square-foot market, which was damaged by Hurricane Sandy in late 2012.

Boasting a new parking lot, lighting and landscaping in addition to expanded produce, fresh meat, deli, dairy and grocery departments, the new Beach Haven location will offer the following features:

  • A grab-and-go convenience food section
  • A fresh salad bar
  • An olive and antipasto bar
  • Grilled and rotisserie chicken and hot side dishes
  • Fresh cut-to-order meats
  • Fresh-made sushi and custom-made sandwiches
  • A bakery section with store-made cakes, pies, pastries, rolls and breads

A video about the Beach Haven project can be accessed on the grocer’s blog.

"Acme is committed to our many valued customers in the Long Beach Island community," noted Acme VP of Operations Dan Croce. "We've listened to our customers over the last year as we planned the expanded store in Beach Haven, and we’re excited to continue serving them with new and expanded offerings and a fresh, modern grocery store experience."

A groundbreaking ceremony is slated for autumn 2014, with a projected store opening date in late spring of 2015.

Begun in 1891, Malvern, Pa.-based Acme operates 110 stores, including Sav-On Pharmacies at select locations, in Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Delaware and Maryland, employing more than 10,000 associates.
